'Worship Allah, and do not associate with Him anything, and be good to parents and to kinsmen and orphans and the needy and the close neighbour and the distant neighbour… ' 

(Surah An-Nisa, Verse 36)

The Quran and the Hadith emphasise the importance of honouring our neighbours.  Who are our neighbours and what are their rights.  In this sermon the Shaykh explores this fundamental aspect of our Deen which instructs us on how we should conduct ourselves with those around us regardless of their faith. The right relationships with our neighbours is paramount to the building of cohesive communities and to ultimately earn the pleasure of Allah Almighly.

Counsel & Purity of Heart

The word nasiha is usually translated as advice or counsel. However, in this sermon the sheikh explains another connotation, which is to be pure and sincere. The Qur'an and hadith urge us to have nasiha toward God and and His Prophets (peace be upon them), which gives the sense of having a pure and open heart toward them. This is related to ikhlas (sincerity) and also a reverent longing which can make worship easier and more joyful. The sheikh also relates this to nasiha in the sense of giving advice - whether from a learned person to a tyrant or from one believer to another - and the adab (good manners) of doing so.
